WEEK AHEAD

Thursday, January 21 - Missouri Mavericks vs. Allen Americans, 7:05 p.m. CST

Missouri hosts the Allen Americans Thursday night at the IEC in the first game between the CHL's newest expansion clubs. Allen (25-9-2) sits in second place in the Southern Conference with 52 points and is 11-6-1 on the road this season. Missouri (17-16-3) currently sits alone in fifth place in the Northern Conference with 37 points. The two teams will square off a total of three times this year including two at the IEC. The game marks the first of three games in three nights for the Mavericks and ends a six-game home stand in which Missouri is 3-1-1.

Friday, January 22 - Missouri Mavericks at Mississippi RiverKings, 7:05 p.m. CST

The Mavericks travel to Mississippi for the final time this season for a pair of games at DeSoto Civic Center. Missouri won both games this past weekend against Mississippi and the Mavericks are now 3-2-1 against the RiverKings. Missouri is currently one point below the RiverKings for the fourth spot in the Northern Conference and the two teams will play five more times this season including this weekend. Jeff Christian and Nick Sirota lead the Mavericks in scoring against Mississippi with seven points each and Mississippi forwards Bobby Chaumont and Louis Dumont lead all scorers in the series with eight points each.

Friday, January 15 - Missouri 6 vs. Mississippi 2

The Mavericks' three-goal third period propelled them to a 6-2 victory over the RiverKings Friday night at Independence Events Center. Defenseman Bret Tyler had a pair of goals including an empty netter and forward Nick Sirota had a goal and two assists as Missouri improved their record to 16-16-3. Newcomer Jordan Foreman had a goal, assist and a fight in his first game with the team. The Mavericks also ended a two-game winless streak at home.

Saturday, January 9 - Missouri 5 vs. Mississippi 4

The Mavericks defeated the Mississippi RiverKings 5-4 Saturday night in a physical, tight-checking game at Independence Events Center. Mavericks' forward Jeff Christian recorded a team-record four points on two goals and two assists, and Bill Vandermeer and Brett Hammond each tallied a goal and an assist in the win. There was also a record crowd of 5,800 people that witnessed the Mavericks go over the.500 mark for the first time this season. Missouri is now 17-16-3 on the season and stands alone in fifth place in the Northern Conference.

Mavericks and American Red Cross team up for Haiti relief - The Mavericks and American Red Cross of Greater Kansas City have teamed up to help those in need in Haiti. The American Red Cross of Greater Kansas City will attend the Mavericks' game this Thursday, January 21 and will pass the bucket for donations to help the people of Haiti. The Mavericks have also announced a ticket offer in which $5 from every Rinkside level ticket sold for the game on Thursday, January 21 will go to the American Red Cross. Starting today, fans can purchase Rinkside tickets for $18 (normally $25) and $5 from each ticket will be donated to the Red Cross for Haiti relief. Fans must purchase tickets at the Mavericks' front office at (816) 252-7825 or the Independence Events Center Box Office and mention "Red Cross" or "Haiti." If fans purchase 10 or more tickets, they will also receive a $20 gift card from Carrabba's.

Scoring streak - Forward Jeff Christian is currently on the longest scoring streak in the CHL at 12 games. The 20-year veteran has 19 points in the current streak on 11 goals and 8 assists. He leads the Mavericks in scoring this season with 47 points (20-27=47) and ranks fourth overall in the CHL. Christian has only been held scoreless in seven of the 35 games he has played this season.

Rookie Leader - Mavericks' forward Nick Sirota leads all first-year players in scoring this season. Sirota has 24 points (11-13$) in 34 games played leading all rookie scorers. His +11 plus/minus rating also ranks first among rookies and leads the Mavericks.

Thirsty Thursday - This Thursday's game against the Allen Americans is the first "Thirsty Thursday" of the season in which fans are able to get $2 Drafts from 6-7 p.m.

9 of 11 - Missouri has secured at least a point in nine of their last 11 games going 7-2-2 in that stretch. During the stretch, Missouri has gone over the.500 mark for the first time this season, and surpassed the Tulsa Oilers for fourth place in the standings.

In the Community- Several Mavs will be out and about in the community this week.

Tuesday, January 19 - bd's Mongolian Grill Join Mike Burgoyne, Brett Hammond, Jeff MacDermid, Tyler Kindle, Braden Walls and Andrew Davis at bd's Mongolian Grill from 6-8 p.m. The Mavericks players will be guest grillers at the bd's located at 19750 E. Valley View Parkway near the Independence Events Center.

Wednesday, January 20 - Blue Springs Harley Davidson Karl Sellan and Jordan Foreman will be at the Blue Springs Harley Davidson from 6-8 p.m. for an afterhours event.
