RBC Future Stars Selected For 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic

PORTLAND, Maine... The American Hockey League and the Portland Pirates announced today that eight Portland-area players have been named RBC Future Stars and will represent their respective teams at the 2010 Ducks Unlimited AHL All-Star Skills Competition, being held Monday, Jan. 18 (8:00 p.m. ET) as part of the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

The RBC Future Stars will participate alongside American Hockey League All-Stars in select events during the skills competition, and their scores in those events will count toward the final outcome for the evening.

Cam Cain (defenseman, Portland Junior Pirates, Kennebunk, Maine) and Dan Hanley (forward, Falmouth High School, Falmouth, Maine) will participate with the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars while Trevor Fleurent (forward, Biddeford High School, Biddeford, Maine) and Matthew Michaud (forward, North Yarmouth Academy, South Portland, Maine) will suit up for the Canadian AHL All-Stars.

Samuel Henley (forward, Lewiston Maineiacs, QMJHL, Val'Dor Quebec), Jake Landry (sophomore at North Yarmouth Academy, Greene Maine), Dixon Pike (forward, Falmouth High School, Falmouth, Maine) and CJ Maksut (forward Thornton Academy, Saco, Maine) will serve as on-ice support staff for the Skills Events.

The RBC Future Stars are presented by RBC, the Official Bank of the American Hockey League. Recent RBC Future Stars include Jerry D'Amigo (2008) and Jeremy Morin (2008), who won gold medals with the United States at the 2010 World Junior Championships; Christian Thomas (2007), currently the leading scorer for the OHL's Belleville Bulls; Cody Eakin (2006), who is currently one of the top scorers in the Western Hockey League skating for Swift Current; and Colin Greening (2002), a senior captain at Cornell University this season.

The 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic will feature the top talent in the American Hockey League competing in the league's two-day showcase event, to be televised nationally in the United States and Canada.
