He ranks second among current Smokies players with a .366 on-base percentage and third with a .787 OPS. Lalli's also hit five home runs on the year and drove in 51 runs. Earlier this season, he was named a starter to the Southern League's All-Star team, representing the North Division at Regions Park in Birmingham, Ala.

Lalli was signed by the Chicago Cubs as a non-drafted free agent out of Gardner-Webb University in May 2006. He is currently in his fourth season in the Cubs' minor league system, including all or a portion of the past two with the Smokies.
