Kyle Greenwalt shut out the Rome Braves on two hits through eight innings and the Lexington Legends beat the Braves 2-1 Monday night at Applebee's Park.

Greenwalt had gone at least five innings in each of his 15 previous starts, but the eight-inning stint was his longest outing of the year. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter. He allowed only a single in the third inning to Ryan Barba and another in the fifth to Calvin Culver. Greenwalt, 7-7, has won his last three starts.

The Legends took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With one out, Jorge De Leon singled and went to third on Jay Austin's single, with Austin taking second on the throw to third. With the Rome infield drawn in, Eric Suttle grounded to short, and De Leon beat the throw to the plate to give the Legends a 1-0 lead. Ebert Rosario singled to right to score Austin with the second run.

Ashton Mowdy relieved Greenwalt to start the ninth inning, and earned his third save, though he gave up a solo home run to Braden Schlehuber. Rome starter Dimaster Delgado (1-3) was the losing pitcher.

The Legends have won two of three games in the series, which concludes Tuesday night at Applebee's Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m.
