Charlie Haeger Selected to PCL All-Star Squad

July 1, 2009 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque Isotopes knuckleballer Charlie Haeger has been named to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team after posting a 3.75 ERA with a League-leading eight wins.

The right-hander has blossomed in the month of June, going 3-2 with a 2.09 ERA in six starts, the sixth lowest earned run average for the month among all PCL hurlers. Haeger has also racked up two complete games this season, second most in the Pacific Coast League.

This will be Haeger's second appearance in the Triple-A All-Star Game, having started the 2006 contest in Toledo, OH while a member of the Charlotte Knights (Triple-A affiliate of the White Sox) and tossing a perfect two innings.

Haeger becomes just the third pitcher in Isotopes history to be named to the annual Triple-A mid-season classic, joining reliever Jim Crowell (2005) and starter Chris Seddon (2008).

The 2009 Triple-A All-Star Game will be held at PGE Park in Portland, Oregon on July 15 at 8:00 PM MT and will be broadcast on ESPN2.

The Isotopes are home for a short but action-packed three-game homestand that features an early Independence Day celebration, including back-to-back fireworks shows this Thursday and Friday. Act fast for tickets as berm seating is already on sale for Friday's contest. Gates for both Thursday and Friday night's games will open at 5:30 PM. Tickets for any Isotopes game may be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office, at Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 1-800-745-3000, or on-line at www.albuquerquebaseball.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
