Charleston RiverDogs News Release

CHARLESTON, SC - Major League Baseball has announced that Charleston RiverDogs starter Manny Banuelos has been named to the World Futures roster for the 11th XM All-Star Futures Game. The game will be held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Mo. on Sunday, July 12 at 2 p.m. and can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2HD.

This is the third time in four years that the RiverDogs have had a player represented in the Futures Game as catcher Jose Montero participated in the 2008 game at Yankee Stadium and outfielder Jose Tabata played in 2006 at Pittsburgh's PNC Park.

Montero makes his second appearance in the Futures Game as he joins Banuelos on the World roster as the only New York Yankees selected.

At the All-Star break, the left-handed Banuelos owns a 5-3 record with a 2.51 ERA (17 ER/61.0 IP) through 12 starts with the RiverDogs. The native of Monterrey, Mexico has also allowed 47 hits and 14 walks with 58 strikeouts.

There have been 39 Major League All-Stars and more than 200 major leaguers that have participated in the previous 10 Futures Games.

The RiverDogs kick start the season's second half by traveling to Savannah to battle in a five-game series at Historic Grayson Stadium against the Sand Gnats starting Thursday, June 25. The team returns to The Joe for a four-game set against the Greenville Drive, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, starting Tuesday, June 30 with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
