EASTLAKE, OH - Rehabbing Major League starting pitcher Fausto Carmona dominated for six and one third innings against the Hagerstown Suns (0-1) on Thursday night, leading the Lake County Captains (1-0) to a 5-1 victory.

Hagerstown managed just one hit and one walk against the righthander, with Steve Lombardozzi's lone single coming in the top of the sixth inning.

Carmona (1-0) picked up the win and struck out seven in his first rehab appearance for the Cleveland Indians.

Ricardo Pecina (0-1) took the loss for Hagerstown, though the lefthander actually through very well for four innings. The only blemish on Pecina's line through four was a solo home run hit by Chris Nash in the bottom of the second inning, giving the Captains a 1-0 lead.

Pecina got into trouble, however, in the fifth inning, as four runs came around to score. Three of the runs were credited to Pecina while reliever Patrick Arnold was responsible for one.

The lone run for Hagerstown came in the top of the ninth inning when Valerio Heredia singled, advanced to second on a balk, took third due to defensive indifference and eventually scored on an error.

Inclement weather delayed the first pitch of the game by one hour and four minutes.

The Suns and Captains will play the second game of their five game series on Friday, June 26th at 7:00 pm.
