Oklahoma City RedHawks (28-32) at New Orleans Zephyrs (27-35)

Game 61 | June 13, 2009, 6:00 pm CDT | Zephyr Field | Metairie, LA

Tonight's scheduled starting pitchers:

RH Josh Rupe (0-3, 7.18) vs. LH Willie Collazo (5-2, 4.17)

TONIGHT: The Oklahoma City RedHawks continue their 8-game trip with the third of a 4-game set against the New Orleans Zephyrs (Florida Marlins). The series sits at 1-1 after OKC's 6-4 win last night. The RedHawks are 4-2 on the trip despite being out-scored 41-29 in the 6 games. OKC is second in the American South Division, a half-game back of Round Rock. New Orleans is fourth, 2.5 games back of the lead. Righthander Josh Rupe starts for the RedHawks off a quality start in a no decision at Albuquerque in his last outing. It's the first appearance of the season for Rupe against the Zephyrs. Lefty Willie Collazo, who made 2 relief appearances against OKC in early May (no decisions, 4.2 IP, 9 H, 3 ER) starts for New Orleans.

HOMERS APLENTY IN 6-4 OKC WIN: The RedHawks hit a pair of solo home runs and the Zephyrs accounted for all of their runs on 3 big flies in last night's 6-4 OKC win at Zephyr Field. Royce Huffman and Casey Benjamin hit solo shots in the top of the second inning against John Koronka (3-3) who went 3 innings in the loss. John Lindsey and Michael Ryan followed with back-to-back shots in the bottom of the second to tie the score 2-2 against Tommy Hunter (2-2) who would not allow another run in a 7-inning win. Max Ramirez delivered a 2-run single and Huffman followed with an RBI single in the third to give the RedHawks the lead for good at 5-2. Kevin Richardson's bases-loaded walk, the team's 14th of the season, put OKC up 6-2 in the sixth. Justin Knoedler completed the scoring with a 2-run homer off Warner Madrigal in the ninth.

WALK RIGHT IN: Kevin Richardson's bases-loaded walk in last night's sixth inning was the RedHawks' league-leading 14th of the season. The closest team is Reno with 8. Eleven RedHawks have at least one walk with the bases loaded. Two PCL teams, Albuquerque and Nashville, have only 1 bases-loaded walk so far this season. In 2008, the RedHawks and Zephyrs shared the league lead with 20 bases-loaded free passes.

ONE WHIFF: RedHawks hitters struck out only once last night, a season low. The previous low was a 2-strikeout performance against Memphis June 5.

20 IN 60: Tommy Hunter's quality start last night was his third in 6 outings and the team's 20th in 60 games this season. OKC starters have a collective 4.13 ERA.

ERRORLESS GAMES MOUNT: OKC has been error-free in 7 of its last 9 and has only 7 errors in the last 19 games. OKC has gone 23 games since its last multiple-error game. The RedHawks made 2 errors in a 9-1 win in the second of a May 18 doubleheader against Tacoma.

HUFFMAN UPDATE: Royce Huffman as hit safely in 12 of his last 13. He leads the team in doubles with 13 and extra-base hits with 16. Huffman has more doubles than any other RedHawk has extra-base hits.

DOT...DOT...DOT: Esteban German is sixth in the PCL in on-base percentage at .427 and tied for third in walks with 40...Max Ramirez has hit safely in 9 of his last 11, raising his average from .221 to .244 by going 14-for-48 (.292) in that stretch, which extends before his stint on the DL with right wrist soreness...Joaquin Arias is 10-for-26 (.385) during a 6-game hitting streak that has lifted his average from .204 to .226...New Orleans has hit 10 home runs in the 6-game season series against OKC while the RedHawks have hit 2, both last night...the RedHawks have allowed 23 home runs against New Orleans and Albuquerque combined in 18 games...they've surrendered 15 in their other 42 games.
