Thunder Awful Night to Honor Winless Lions

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder have announced that their second annual "Awful Night" promotion, scheduled for February 13th, will be dedicated to the 2008 Detroit Lions. The Lions completed the worst season in the history of the NFL with a 31-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Their 0-16 record was the first winless season in the NFL since the expansion Tampa Bay Buccaneers went 0-14 in 1976. The first 399 fans will receive commemorative 0-16 toilet paper in honor of the 399 yards per game allowed by the Lions' defense. Any fan who has a social security number or drivers license that ends in 016 can receive a pair of free tickets to the game. Anyone born on December 28th, the day awful history was made, or December 23rd, the date of the Lions' last win, can also receive a pair of free tickets. Anyone with a matching first AND last name to anyone on the Lions' 53-man active roster can receive a pair of free tickets.
During the game, fans can register to win a toilet bowl and a pair of tickets to the 2009 toilet bowl game of the year between the Lions and the St. Louis Rams. A "Millen" dollars will be given away that night in honor of former Lions' GM Matt Millen.
Awful Night has gained widespread popularity in minor league sports across the country. Wichita's 2009 Awful Night will also feature the "worst ever" indoor fireworks show, awful music, awful intermission contests, awful giveaways, amongst other promotions.
Wichita continues their five-game homestand Wednesday night when they host the Tulsa Oilers at 5:05 p.m. at the Kansas Coliseum.
