RiverKings Stat Leaders
The RiverKings are led in scoring by forward Louis Dumont, who has 29 points, including a team-leading 17 assists. Dumont leads the league in shorthanded goals with four. Mississippi is led in goal scoring by Bobby Chaumont with 16 counters. Seven of Chaumont's 16 goals have come on the power play and four have been game-winners. Matt Summers has the best plus-minus statistic at plus-eight, including time spent in Laredo before the trade that sent him to Mississippi. With the RiverKings, Jeff Alcombrack, Andrew Lackner, and Dallas Steward are each at plus-seven for the season. Adam Smyth leads the RiverKings in penalty minutes with 118. Between the pipes, Kevin Beech paces the team in appearances with 20 and in minutes played with 1206. Beech also leads the RiverKings in wins with 12 (12-8-0). Tyler Sims has a 2.51 goals-against-average and a save percentage of .907.
The Last Time Out...
December 27th, 2008 - RiverKings 5, at Tulsa 3
Mississippi won its third game of the season against the Oilers and second of the year at the BOK Center in a 5-3 victory. Tulsa scored first on a goal from Jeff Christian, but the RiverKings scored the next four goals to take a 4-1 lead. Andrew Lackner, Brad Bonello, Garrett Larson, Dallas Costanzo, and Matt Pierce were the goal scorers for the RiverKings. Larson's goal came on the power play and Costanzo's goal was the eventual game-winner. Tyler Sims (5-3-0) won his third straight game between the pipes for the RiverKings with a 24-save effort. The RiverKings were 1-for-4 on the power play and out shot the Oilers by a 35-27 margin.
The Last Time vs. Bossier-Shreveport
November 12th, 2008 - RiverKings 3, at Bossier-Shreveport 4
Bossier-Shreveport scored a power play goal with 36 seconds remaining in the game for their third straight win against the RiverKings this season and closest decision of the year. Mississippi opened the scoring on a power play goal from Jeff Nelson, before the Mudbugs took a 3-1 lead at the end of the frame. The RiverKings came back with a power play goal from Garrett Larson and a shorthanded goal from Louis Dumont to tie the game, before the final counter came in the last minute of the game. Goaltender Kevin Beech took the loss in the contest with a 14-save effort. Mississippi was 2-for-7 on the power play, but allowed three Bossier-Shreveport power play goals. Mississippi outshot the Mudbugs 31-18 for the game.
The Last Time vs. Oklahoma City
December 26th, 2008 - Oklahoma City 4, at RiverKings 3
Derek Landmesser's two assists paced the RiverKings' offense, but Ted Vandermeer's power play goal early in the third period was the deciding factor in the loss to the Blazers. Louis Dumont and Jeff Nelson scored on the power play, and Bobby Chaumont added a marker in the third period comeback attempt for the RiverKings. Mississippi was 2-for-7 on the power play, but allowed three Oklahoma City power play goals in the loss, the RiverKings' second against the division-leading Blazers (2-2-0 vs. OKC). Mississippi outshot the Blazers 44-26 in the game, but goaltender Kevin Beech was tagged with the loss after a 22-save effort.
Special Teams Update
Mississippi scored once on the power play in four chances against the Oilers in Tulsa on Saturday and is 17.9% on the power play for the season (36-of-201). The RiverKings have scored power play goals in their last four games (6-of-23). In home games, Mississippi has a 19.8% success rate (16-of-81). Against Bossier-Shreveport, the RiverKings are 4-of-23 for a percentage of 17.4%. Against Oklahoma City, Mississippi has scored four goals in 34 chances for a percentage of 11.4%.
The RiverKings allowed a pair of man-advantage goals in seven chances against the Oilers in Saturday's win in Tulsa. Mississippi has allowed power play goals in their last two games (5-of-16). In home contests, the RiverKings penalty-killing percentage is 82.7% (13-of-75). Against the Mudbugs, Mississippi's penalty-kill has allowed seven power play goals in 23 chances, while against the Blazers, the RiverKings have allowed eight power play tallies in 36 opportunities.
Mississippi has scored five shorthanded goals and has allowed three shorthanded counters. Louis Dumont leads the RiverKings with four "shorties" and Bobby Chaumont has scored one. Two of the RiverKings' five shorthanded goals have been scored at home and they have allowed two on home ice.

Individual Player Etc...
- Adam Smyth entering the week moved into the top five for penalty minutes in the CHL at 118. Smyth has 68 penalty minutes in his last eight games. Smyth has scored the first goal of the game in two of the RiverKings' last ten games.
- Louis Dumont started the week leading the league in shorthanded goals scored with four.
- Garrett Larson is tied for the league lead in shorthanded assists with three. Larson has scored two power play goals in the RiverKings' last ten games.
- Jeff Nelson has scored five points (three goals and two assists) in his last three games for the RiverKings. Nelson has had four game point streaks on two previous occasions this year. Prior to the current streak, Nelson had been held off the score sheet in eight consecutive games, dating back to November 28th at Corpus Christi.
- Dallas Costanzo has scored two game-winning goals in the team's last ten contests.
- Dallas Steward had his second multi-point night of his brief season with the RiverKings Saturday against Tulsa. The two assist night joins his first game as a RiverKings on December 12th, when he scored a goal and added a pair of helpers. He has scored points in four of his seven games in Mississippi since coming from Augusta of the ECHL.
- Andrew Lackner had his second multi-point night of the year on Saturday in Tulsa with a goal and an assist. Lackner also scored a goal-assist-two point night against Tulsa on November 21st at the BOK Center.
- David Simoes was second in the CHL for major penalties with 16, which tops league defensemen in the category.
- Brad Bonello starts the week in fourth place for shooting percentage at .265 (9 goals, 34 shots).
- Goaltender Kevin Beech is second in the CHL in victories with 12. Beech leads the league in minutes played at 1206.
- Jeff Alcombrack is ninth in scoring by a defenseman with 20 points. Alcombrack stretched his current point streak to three games with a two-assist effort against the Oilers in Tulsa Saturday night. He has five assists in his last three games. Alcombrack had a four-game point streak from November 15th to the 22nd, when he scored two goals and added six assists.
- Bobby Chaumont is fourth in the league three-star standings with 28 points. In home games, Chaumont leads the team in scoring with 14 points. Four of his seven power play goals have come on home ice and three game-winning goals have been at the DCC.
- Matt Pierce leads the RiverKings in scoring through their last five games with six points. He also has the best plus-minus in the team's last five contests at plus-five.
- Goaltender Tyler Sims is 5-1-0 in the RiverKings last ten games. He has fashioned a 1.84 goals-against-average and has a save percentage of .935 in the last ten Mississippi contests. Sims is also 3-0-0 in the team's last five games.
Team Extras
- Mississippi averages 27.07 penalty minutes per game. The total includes 42 majors, six ten-minute misconducts, and three game misconducts.
- The RiverKings are 13-4-0 when scoring the first goal. They are 2-0 in shootouts and 0-0 in contests determined in overtime.
- At home, Mississippi has outscored their opponents by a 47-34 margin.
- Against the Northeast Division, the RiverKings are 5-5-0. Against Bossier-Shreveport, Mississippi is 0-3-0 and against Oklahoma City, the RiverKings have a 2-2-0 mark.

The Next Time We Meet...
Mississippi vs. Bossier-Shreveport: The RiverKings will travel to Mudbug country to battle with Bossier-Shreveport at the Century Tel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana on Tuesday night, January 6th. Mississippi then takes on the Mudbugs at home on January 27th in the annual "Face-Off Field Trip" game, where area students are being invited to come for the game at 10:05 AM at the DeSoto Civic Center.
Mississippi vs. Oklahoma City: Mississippi is beginning to see a lot of the Blazers, playing again on Saturday, January 3rd at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City at 7:10 PM. They'll next play the Blazers at home on January 16th at the DeSoto Civic Center, starting at 7:05 PM,

What's Next...
Next week, the RiverKings play at Bossier-Shreveport on Tuesday, January 6th, then return home for a three-game weekend. Mississippi meets Tulsa on January 9th, Texas at home on Saturday, January 10th, and then travels to Oklahoma City for a late Sunday afternoon game on January 11th (5:10 PM). It will be the first time this season the RiverKings have played games on three consecutive nights.
