
Spirit Drop Fronts in 7-3 Victory

(Saginaw, MI) The Saginaw Spirit hosted the Kingston Frontenacs Friday night, beating the Eastern Conference squad 7-3 in regulation. The Spirit gain two points with the win for a total of 8 points and a record of 4-3-0-0.
Spirit center, and former Frontenacs forward, Kyle Bochek bit back at his former team when he fed the puck to winger Kain Allicock for a goal at 9:28 in the first. It was Allicock's first goal of the season. A second Saginaw goal was quickly added at the 12:43 mark by Spirit winger Jordan Skellett with an assist credited to fellow winger Chris Chappell. Spirit center Jordan Szwarz extended Saginaw's lead to 3-0 with a power play goal at 18:10 in the fist. Center Barry Sanderson and defenseman Adam Comrie (NHL Florida Panthers) assisted on the goal.
The Frontenacs fought back in the second period. Kingston winger Bobby Mignardi scored for the Frontenacs at 2:27 in the second period with assists from defenseman Zack Fenwick and winger Ethan Werek. The Spirit responded with a goal from defenseman Comrie assisted by center Jack Combs and defenseman Nick Crawford (NHL Buffalo Sabres) bringing the score to a 4-1 Saginaw lead. Frontenac's winger Stephen Farancella knocked in a goal for Kingston at 13:31 bringing the score to 4-2. Assists were awarded to winger Tyler Karius and center George Lovatsis. Saginaw quickly followed with a goal from winger Joe Pleckaitis with only fourteen seconds left in the second period. Assists were credited to center Tyler Murovich and Comrie. Saginaw held a strong lead going into the third period with a score of 5-2.
The Frontenacs kicked off the third period with a goal from center Andris Dzerins at 4:38 taking the score to 5-3. His assists came from wingmen Josh Brittain and Matthew Kang. Saginaw kept their lead with a goal at 10:27 by Szwarz with assists from center Sanderson and Adam Comrie. Saginaw's Chappell, assisted by Combs, quickly scored another goal for the Spirit at 11:28. The final score ended in a 7-3 Spirit victory.
Spirit goaltender Edward Pasquale was credited with 41 saves and Frontenac's goalie Anthony Peters earned for 20 saves.

The Spirit head to Sarnia tomorrow night for a 7:30 match-up against the Sting then return to TheDow Event Center in Saginaw on Sunday, October 12th to take on the Plymouth Whalers at 4:00PM. The game features the start of Mascot Elections!
