
Majors Blanked By the Petes

Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
Mississauga ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors faced off against the Peterborough Petes tonight, and were unfortunately held off the board throughout the game. As a result, the Majors ended their homestand with a tough 1-0 shutout loss, as their record shifts to 4-2-0-0 on the year.
It was a slow start to the contest, as there was no scoring in the 1st period of play. The shots on goal were 13 to 8 in favour of the Majors.
In the 2nd period, Tony Romano scored for the Petes at 17:50 on a man-advantage with help from Pat Daley. The goal came despite the fact Mississauga had outshot Peterborough in the frame, this time by a count of 13 to 10.
The 3rd period was scoreless, as the Petes unfortunately held on to a 1-0 lead. The total shots on goal of the night were 38 to 22, in favour of the Majors.
JP Anderson got the start in net for the Majors and made 21 saves, while Trevor Cann blocked 38 shots for the Petes. Mississauga went 0 for 4 on the power-play, while Peterborough finished 1 for 3 on the night. The game's three stars were Cann (1st), Romano (2nd) and Casey Cizikas (3rd).
Mississauga goes on the road tomorrow night to take on the Belleville Bulls at 7:15 p.m. Then, they return home next Friday night (October 17) to host the Brampton Battalion at 7:30 p.m.
