Jackson, McCarty earn CFL Player of the Week honours

(Edmonton) Edmonton Eskimo kick returner Tristan Jackson has been named the CFL Special Teams Player of the Week and running back Calvin McCarty the top Canadian.

A unanimous selection, Jackson had eight punt returns for 101 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown return. He is the only player in the league with two punt return touchdowns this season. This was Jackson's third time winning the CFL Special Teams Player of the Week. He won in the third and fourth weeks of the season.

In his first start of the season, running back Calvin McCarty had 19 carries for 88 yards (4.6 avg) and a touchdown. He also added eight catches for 80 yards. McCarty was also a force on special teams, catching a 19-yard pass from punter Noel Prefontaine. The successful 2nd quarter fake punt led to an Eskimo touchdown. McCarty earned Canadian of the Week in week 12.
