Lightning Assign Defenseman Vladimir Mihalik to Admirals

TAMPA BAY, FL The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have reassigned defenseman Vladimir Mihalik to the Admirals, Lightning executive vice president of hockey operations Brian Lawton announced.

Mihalik, 6-foot-7, 222 pounds, played in both games at the Bridgestone NHL Premiere in Prague, Czech Republic this past weekend, averaging 12:05 in ice time per game in his NHL regular season debut. He also recorded six blocked shots and five hits. Mihalik also played in four preseason games with Tampa Bay and scored one goal.

The native of Presov, Slovakia, made his professional debut last season, recording one goal and 16 points in 68 games with the Admirals. He led Norfolk with a plus-9 rating.

Mihalik was drafted by the Lightning in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

The 20th season of Admirals hockey officially kicks off on Friday and Saturday at Scope against the Hershey Bears.
