Kamloops Blazers News Release

KAMLOOPS, BC - General Manager Craig Bonner announced today that the Blazers have acquired 19-year-old defenseman Giffen Nyren (NIGH-run) from the Moose Jaw Warriors, and a 5th round choice in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft, in exchange for 4th round and 5th round selections in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft (originally obtained from the Warriors).

"Giffen is an experienced WHL defenseman having already played two full seasons with the Warriors," says Bonner. "He adds depth to our back end and we're looking forward to him playing a lot of minutes for our hockey club starting Friday night against Everett."

Nyren - a 6'0", 185-pound left-shooting blueliner - has 9 goals and 28 assists in 130 games with Moose Jaw where he played as both a defenseman and a forward.
