Brandon Wheat Kings News Release

Brandon, Manitoba -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings have trimmed their pre-season roster to twenty-eight players as they begin final preparations for this weekend's season opening home and home series with the Regina Pats.

The Wheat Kings have reassigned three players - right-winger Jordan DePape and centers Jesse Sinatynski and Brendan Rouse.

While Sinatynski and Rouse will be returning to the midget ranks, DePape has been sent to the Winnipeg Saints of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.

A former third round draft choice of the Wheat Kings in 2007, DePape had one assist in two pre-season games this year. Sinatynski had a goal and two points in three games while Rouse was held off the scoresheet in three exhibition games.

Rouse is slated to play for the Valley West Hawks of B.C.'s Major Midget Hockey League this season while Sinatynski will return home to play for Fort Saskatchewan AAA midgets. Rouse was Brandon's fifth round pick in 2007 while Sinatsynski was chosen by the Wheat Kings in round thirteen.

Monday's decision leaves Brandon with three goalkeepers, eleven defencemen and 14 forwards on its pre-season roster, with four of those still away at National Hockey League camps. While Matt Calvert continues to skate with the Blue Jackets in Columbus, Keith Aulie, Matt McCue and Colby Robak are with Calgary, St. Louis and Florida respectively.

The Wheat Kings will bring the curtain up on their 2008-09 campaign Friday night at Westman Place. Tickets to the Coca Cola Home Opener, presented by the Brandon Sun are on sale now at the Keystone Centre box office. Fans can also order by phone at 726-3555 or online at ticketmaster.ca.
