Six T-Birds headed to NHL training camps

Kent, WA, September 9, 2008 - Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced six T-Birds will be heading to NHL Training Camps this week.

"We are excited to see that six of our players are attending NHL training camps this fall," said Farwell. "This is a big step for these players to improve and to see what it takes to play at such a high level."

Defenseman Thomas Hickey left for the Los Angeles Kings Training Camp on Wednesday, August 27. Hickey was taken by the Kings with the fourth overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft. Jim O'Brien and Greg Scott leave Tuesday for Ottawa and Toronto respectively. O'Brien was selected by the Ottawa Senators in the first round, 29th overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft. Scott was signed as a free agent by the Toronto Maple Leafs after the 2007-08 season.

Left wing Prab Rai leaves for the Vancouver Canucks Training Camp on Thursday, September 11. Rai was selected by the Canucks in the fifth round, 134th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.

Defenseman Stefan Warg is headed to the Training Camp of the Anaheim Duck on Thursday, September 11. Warg was selected by the Ducks in the fifth round, 143rd overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft.

Goalie Jacob DeSerres will attend the Philadelphia Flyers Training Camp. He will leave Saturday, September 13 for the camp. DeSerres was selected by the Flyers in the third round, 84th overall in the 2008 Entry Draft.

The T-Birds travel to Portland to take on the Winter Hawks in a exhibition game on Friday, September 12, at 7 p.m. at Memorial Coliseum.

The T-Birds only home exhibition game of the preseason will be Saturday, September 13, at Kent Valley Ice Centre against the Portland Winter Hawks. Game time is 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds at 206-448-PUCK, at any Ticketmaster outlet or at Kent Valley Ice Centre.

T-Birds season tickets are also currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T- Birds office at 425-869-7825. Purchasing a season ticket will ensure fans can attend both the home opener at the KeyArena on October 4 and the T-Birds first game in their new home, the Kent Events Center.
