LANCASTER, Pa.-The Lancaster Barnstormers are joining in the fight against prostate cancer. The Barnstormers are hosting Ed Randall's "Bat for a Cure" during tonight's game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs.

Ed Randall, a baseball broadcaster for more than 30 years, founded the Bat for a Cure program after surviving his own battle with prostate cancer several years ago. The program aims to raise funds and awareness in the battle against prostate cancer. Early detection is a key to fighting the disease, yet men, in general, are more reluctant to visit a doctor until a problem becomes more severe.

Barnstormers players and coaches will wear blue wristbands in support of Bat for a Cure, and volunteers representing the organization will be on hand during the night to distribute literature. Randall's associates in the program include baseball Hall-of-Famers Frank Robinson and Joe Morgan as well as broadcaster Bob Costas and former New York governor Mario Cuomo.

Fans who visit the table can register to win baseball memorabilia autographed by these and other baseball legends.

Single-game tickets for the Barnstormers game tonight (Sept. 5) or any other remaining game in the 2008 regular season are still available and can be purchased in person at the Clipper Magazine Stadium box office, over the phone at (717) 509-HITS or online at www.LancasterBarnstormers.com.
