Bridgeport Out-Blasts Pats

Bridgeport, CT - September 5th - The Bridgeport Bluefish rallied late for a 6-5 victory over the Somerset Patriots on Friday. One night after finishing four-for-four, Alex Prieto drilled a seventh inning two-run home run that gave the 'Fish the one-run edge. With their third consecutive victory, Bridgeport improves to 27-25 and moves within one game of first place Long Island.

Prieto finished the night two-for-four with two RBIs and a run. His go-ahead shot overshadowed a two-homer evening by Patriot outfielder Ryan Radmanovich. The Somerset slugger accounted for all five of his team's runs with a three-run bomb in the fourth and a two-run shot in the seventh. Radmanovich finished the night three-for-four with five RBIs and two runs.

Bridgeport starter Ryan DiPietro remained solid over his last few starts. The Bluefish lefty allowed three runs on just two hits and three walks with four batters fanned in his six innings of work. Andy Weimer (3-1) earned the victory in relief despite allowing the second of Radmanovich's home runs. Eddy Ramos picked up his 17th save with a scoreless ninth. Steve Kelly (5-11) absorbed the loss in relief, giving up the long ball to Prieto.

Henry Mateo (stolen base, run) and Prieto recorded the only multi-hit games for the 'Fish. Wilson Batista started the scoring with a two-run double in the fifth inning and finished one-for-four. Darryl Brinkley went one-for-three with a double and two runs in his Bluefish debut.

Bridgeport looks to make it four games in a row tomorrow night at 6:05 P.M. Bluefish All-Star Barry Hertzler (8-8) takes on Jim Magrane (6-11).
