Camden Riversharks News Release
CAMDEN, NJ- Newark outfielder Keith Reed rocked Riversharks pitching Friday night in what would end up a 6-2 Sharks loss. Reed blasted two homeruns to increase his season total to 22.
The attack started early. Reed belted his first shot off Camden starter Jake Dittler in the first to put Newark up 2-0. The Bears added another run in the second before the Sharks even came close to getting on the board.
The Sharks scored their first run in the fifth on an RBI ground out by Gabe Suarez.
The Bears struck back in the seventh. Third baseman drove in a run with a single to right. The hit was the last allowed by Dittler before being pulled for Jeremy Lewis. Lewis allowed first baseman Randall Simon to single in the runner to make it 5-1.
Nic Jackson doubled in a run in the bottom of the seventh, but it would be the last score in a futile attempt at a Riversharks comeback.
Reed hit his second shot out in the ninth off reliever Alec Zumwalt.
Newark starter Benito Baez (7-4) earned the win. Dittler (2-5) suffered the loss.
