
Spokane Takes Down Everett In Tournament Opener, 3-1

KENNEWICK, WA - Backed by a two-goal second period, the Spokane Chiefs picked up a 3-1 victory over the Everett Silvertips in Game 1 of the Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament at Toyota Center in Kennewick. The Chiefs improve to 3-1 in the pre-season, while the Silvertips fall to 1-3.
At the 13:13 mark of the first period, Spokane's Tyler Johnson started the scoring off an assist from Tanner Mort. The Chiefs then opened up a 3-0 lead midway through the second period with goals from Justin McCrae and Seth Compton.
Everett snapped the shutout with 28 seconds remaining in the second period, as Shane Harper put back a rebound shot off Spokane netminder James Reid's face mask.
With Day 1 in the books, Everett will now prepare to face the Portland Winter Hawks tomorrow afternoon at Toyota Center. Game time is 2:00 p.m. Meanwhile, the Chiefs will get Friday off, before returning to the ice on Saturday night against the host Tri-City Americans.
