Lansing Lugnuts News Release

LANSING - Enerio Del Rosario needed just 96 pitches Thursday night to finish a complete-game shutout, as he lead the Dayton Dragons into the Midwest League playoffs with a 2-0 win over the Lansing Lugnuts in the final regular season game at Oldsmobile Park.

Del Rosario (5-2) went all nine innings for Dayton. He scattered five hits and struck out 10 batters without allowing a walk, as Jonathan Jaspe was the only Lugnut player to make it to second base in the contest. He reached on a double to start the seventh frame, but Del Rosario retired the next nine batters to end the game.

The Dragons gave Del Rosario all of the run support that he would need in the first inning. Brandon Waring's RBI single plated Zack Cozart from second base, making it 1-0.

It would be the only run that Luis Perez (5-12) would give up in his start, but he still shouldered the loss. He allowed four hits in five innings and retired 14 of the final 16 batters that he faced.

Alan Farina made his first relief appearance since May 28th after coming off of the disabled list. He hurled a scoreless sixth.

Dayton's other run came in the seventh off of Frank Gailey. Brandon Menchaca smacked Gailey's first pitch over the left-center field wall, making it a 2-0 game. Gailey retired the next nine that he faced.

Dayton earned a playoff berth with their win and Fort Wayne's 17-6 loss to South Bend. The Dragons will take Eastern Division's wild-card spot in the second half, meaning they will face-off with Lansing in the first round of the playoffs next week.

Lansing (73-63, 34-32) will play its final series of the season this weekend at South Bend, beginning Friday night. First pitch from Coveleski Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
