-SPIKES LOOK TO CLIP 'BIRDS: The Spikes look to take the final game of a three-game series in Aberdeen with the Ironbirds. Aberdeen has now taken four of the five games between the two teams at Ripken Stadium. State College is 1-5 on the road on Mondays, and looks to improve on a 1-4 road record against teams from the McNamara Division this year.

-LAST NIGHT: Tyler Kolodny's walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth gave the Ironbirds the heartbreaking win, 9-8, over the Spikes. State College took the lead in the second inning after a 51-minute rain delay, when Quincy Latimore launched the third pitch he saw over the left field fence for a three-run homer to give the Spikes the lead, 3-2. After maintaining the lead throughout the game, Malvin Vasquez loaded the bases in the ninth inning. Kolodny then came up against Allen Ponder and hit the grand slam to end the game. Latimore added two stolen bases to his three-run shot for the Spikes.

-TONIGHT'S SPIKES STARTER: Left-hander Rudy Owens makes his first start on the road this evening when he starts for State College at Ripken Stadium. Owens makes his ninth start of the year, and 11th overall appearance for the Spikes. The Mesa, AZ native has allowed just a .250 average to left-handed hitters this year. In his last start, Owens allowed a run on two hits in four innings against Williamsport. The Spikes eventually won the game, 4-2.

-TONIGHT'S IRONBIRDS STARTER: Aberdeen also starts a southpaw as they send Aaron Odom to the mound tonight. Odom has made nine starts this year for the Ironbirds, going at least five innings in all but two. Last time out, Odom got the win against Tri-City, going five innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on eight hits and two walks while striking out three. Opponents are hitting .242 this year against Odom.

-UP NEXT: After completing their series with the Ironbirds tonight, the Spikes head back home for a 7:05 matchup on Tuesday with the Staten Island Yankees. The Yankees, featuring ambidextrous closer Pat Venditte, currently lead the McNamara Division by 3.5 games over Brooklyn and Hudson Valley. It's also a Going Green Night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
