Barrie Colts Make European Draft Selection - Kirill Polozov, 52nd overall

Barrie, ON- The Barrie Colts today announced they have selected 17-year old Russian centre Kirill Polozov with the 52nd overall pick in the first round of the CHL Import Draft.
Currently listed at 6.02, 200-pounds, Polozov last season played for Salavat Yulayev-2 in the Pervaya Liga; Russian Junior League where he recorded 12 goals to go along with 17 assists for 29 points through 48 games.
"Polozov is a player we looked into with various NHL clubs who had early viewings of him in Russia. He has been looking forward to come play hockey in North America for the past few seasons. He is a big, strong kid with above average hockey sense, and coming in as a 17-year old; he has plenty of upside that will help him be an effective Major Junior player," stated Assistant General Manager, Jason Ford. "We checked various sources, and everything we found out about this player was extremely positive."
Polozov joins Jaroslav Kruzik as the Colts' two protected European players entering the 2008-09 season. Under CHL rules, each team is allowed to dress two European players in a game.
Early predictions from the Red Line Report, an independent scouting service, have Polozov ranked in the 75-100 range for the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
