New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - New Hampshire's Robert Ray fired a complete game shutout and struck out 10 to lead the Fisher Cats to a 6-0 victory over the Rock Cats.

Ray (3-0, 0.78) limited the Rock Cats to five hits and no walks in just his third start in Double-A. He finished just as strong as he started by striking out the side in the bottom of the ninth.

Jeff Manship had a solid debut at New Britain Stadium overshadowed by Ray's feat. In just his second start for the Rock Cats, Manship (0-2, 5.40) limited the Fisher Cats to one run on five hits. He struck out five while walking none.

The Fisher Cats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first and that was all they would need. Scott Campbell started the inning with a double and Aaron Matthews (3-for-5) followed with a single. Campbell scored on a single by J.P. Arencibia (3-for-4) to put the Fisher Cats ahead.

New Hampshire struck for five runs in the top of the eighth to break open the game. Matthews had a two-run single and Arencibia added an RBI single to widen the gap, 4-0. Kyle Phillips tacked on a two-run double in the inning. Rock Cats' reliever Jason Miller, who fired a perfect seventh, was charged with all five runs.
