The St. Louis Cardinals have announced that closer Jason Isringhausen will join the Springfield Cardinals and is scheduled to pitch on Wednesday, as he continues his rehab assignment.
Isringhausen, who will be the third big-leaguer to make a rehab appearance for Springfield in 2008, has been on the disabled list since May 16th, with a laceration in his right hand that was reported to have occurred a week prior to him landing on the shelf.
In his first rehab assignment, "Izzy" allowed one hit over two scoreless innings in a start for Palm Beach of the Florida State League on Monday night, throwing just 21 pitches.
Since coming over from the Oakland A's in 2002, the right-hander has recorded 216 saves in a St. Louis uniform, including a career-best 47 in 2004, when he helped the Cards go to the World Series.
