Tulsa Drillers News Release

It has been a tale of two seasons for Tulsa pitcher Ching-Lung Lo this year. After beginning the season with five straight losses and a 10.42 ERA, he has become one of the Texas League's most reliable hurlers.

Tuesday night, he won his fourth straight decision as the Drillers rallied for a 6-2 win over the Northwest Arkansas Naturals at Drillers Stadium. Lo allowed only four hits and two runs in seven innings of work in improving his record to 5-6 on the year. Since May 2, Lo has now lowered his ERA from 9.39 to 5.54.

The win for the Drillers was their third in a row, tying a team high for the year.

Tuesday's game was a scoreless dual until the top of the fourth inning. Geraldo Valentin brought in Kila Kaaihue on a sacrifice fly to give the Naturals a 1-0 lead.

The Drillers matched the run in the bottom of the fourth as Matt Miller singled in Dexter Fowler, who had led off the inning with a double into left field.

The Nats retook the lead in the top of the fifth. Marc Maddox doubled to left and two batters later was bunted in on a safety squeeze by Jose Duarte, giving the visitors a 2-1 advantage.

The seventh inning proved to be the game breaker. The Drillers began the rally with two singles by Corey Wimberly and Jeff Dragicevich. Brian Esposito was then hit by a pitch loading the bases with no outs. Eric Young Jr. followed with a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 2-2.

Tulsa then took its first lead as Fowler drove a long shot to right field that scored Esposito and Dragicevich, making the count 4-2. Matt Miller singled in Young, and Tony Blanco plated Fowler to give the Drillers a commanding 6-2 lead.

Tomas Santiago and Casey Weathers each worked a scoreless inning in relief of Lo.

Naturals starting pitcher Rowdy Hardy also turn in a good performance, allowing only one run in six innings. He walked two and struck out two in the no decision.

Fowler, Miller and Blanco led the Drillers offensive attack with two hits each.

The Drillers will conclude their homestand Wednesday afternoon against the Naturals in what will be the final home game of the first half of the season. Start time is 12:05 pm as Tulsa sends Xavier Cedeno (3-6, 5.98 ERA) to the hill. He will be opposed by Blake Johnson (5-4, 3.90 ERA) for Northwest Arkansas.
