
Villalona's Grand Slam Leads Augusta Past Lexington

Lexington, KY - The GreenJackets (6-5) won their third straight game and had their biggest offense game of the year with a 10-4 win over the Legends (2-9) Sunday afternoon. Angel Villalona connected for a grand-slam in the seventh inning to give Augusta the lead and the bullpen did not allow a run over the final four innings.
Andrew De La Garza (1-0) recorded the win in relief with two shutout innings allowing just three hits, one walk and two strikeouts.
Augusta trailed 4-3 heading into the seventh inning before plating five runs on five hits for an 8-3 lead. With the bases loaded and nobody out Brock Bond connected for an RBI single to tie the game at 4-4. Villalona came up next and hit a line drive over the left field wall for a grand-slam, his first home run of the season.
The GreenJackets added single runs in the eight and ninth innings for a 10-4 advantage. Nick Noonan scored in the eighth inning on a fielding error from Lexington shortstop Ronnie Ramirez then in the ninth Shane Jordan picked up his first RBI of the season with a two-out single scoring Jackson Williams.
Augusta took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI sac-fly from Garrett Baker, an RBI double from Bond and an RBI sac-fly from Villalona.
Lexington rallied back beginning in the bottom of the first inning with a two-out RBI double from Russell Dixon.
The Legends Kevin Carkeek led off the bottom of the second with a solo homer then in the third Collin DeLome had a two-run homer to put Lexington up 4-3.
Augusta starter T.J. Brewer worked five innings for the no-decision and allowed four runs, three earned, on four hits.
The GreenJackets finish their road trip on Monday night looking for the four game sweep of Lexington. Augusta will send left-hander Craig Clark (0-0, 0.00) to the mound while Lexington counters with right-hander Leandro Cespedes (1-0, 1.00). First pitch is at 7:05 p.m.

Augusta scored a season high 10 runs on a season high 16 hits.
Augusta is over the .500 mark for the first time in 2008
Angel Villalona tied a GreenJackets season high for most RBIs in a game with five...Ramon Corona had five RBIs on April 11.
Augusta is assured a series victory winning the first three games of the series and a winning road trip...the GreenJackets are currently 5-2 on this road trip.
Nick Noonan extended his hit streak to eight games with a 3-for-5 day, over the streak Noonan is 12-for-35 (.343) with 10 runs scored, three doubles, a triple and five RBIs.
Joe Paterson worked the final two innings not allowing a hit, run, or a walk and stuck out two.
