Greensboro, NC - The Tourists allowed a season high in runs and Greensboro jumped out with five runs in the first inning to defeat Asheville 12-2 on Sunday afternoon at New Bridge Bank Park. Greensboro Catcher Torre Langley capped off the first inning with a two-run homer off Asheville's starting pitcher Sheng-An Kuo (1-1). The Taiwanese right hander Kuo was lifted in the second innings after the rough start, allowed seven runs on seven hits in 1 1/3 worked.

Andrew Groves relieved Kuo and managed to pitch 2 2/3 innings. Groves loaded the bases in the fourth inning and Grasshoppers 3B Ben Lasater hit a grand slam over the right field wall to extend Greensboro's lead to 11-1. Lasater would add another homerun in the sixth off Joey Williamson for the final run of the night.

Williamson pitched the final four innings and allowed one run with a strikeout. The one run allowed by Williamson, a solo blast to Lasater, was the first he has allowed in 11 innings pitched this season.

Asheville scored in the fourth inning with a Helder Velasquez double followed by a Jeffrey Cunningham RBI single. Lars Davis homered in the fifth inning to give Asheville their second run. Davis has now homers in consecutive days.

The Tourists are now 4-3 on the eight game road trip that ends Monday with Jhoulys Chacin (1-0) on the mound. The game begins at 12:05 and can be heard on WRES 100.7 FM or on the Internet at www.theashevilletourists.com. The team returns home on Tuesday for a homestand that features $5 ticket night.
