Lake County Captains News Release
(Hagerstown, MD) - The Hagerstown Suns threw outstanding pitching at the Lake County Captains and swept a doubleheader on Saturday, shutting out the Captains in both games. The Suns won game one 2-0 and won the night cap 8-0. The Captains had not been shut out this year prior to tonight. Between the two games the Captains had one base runner reach third base. In game one, the Suns got on the scoreboard first. With one out, Michael Burgess walked. He advanced to second and then to third on two Chris Archer wild pitches. He scored on Stephen Englund's sacrifice fly out. The Suns picked up an insurance run in the 6th inning on an RBI double by Englund. The Captains could only muster four hits and never got a runner to third base. Suns starter Colten Willems pitched six shutout innings to pick up his first win. Martin Beno pitched a scoreless 7th and earned his first save. Captains starter Chris Archer struggled with his control walking six but made it through 4.1 innings and only gave up one run. Reliever Kyle Landis got Archer out of a bases loaded jam in the 5th by getting Bill Rhinehart to ground into a double play. Landis would give up the Suns run in the 6th.
Game two saw the Suns take the lead in the bottom of the first inning when Rhinehart hit a solo home run off of Captains starter Jonathan Holt. Holt was making a spot start due to the double header. The Suns would add three more runs in the 3rd when Dan Lyons doubled in Travis Reagan. Rhinehart would double in Lyons to make it 3-0. After a ground out moved Rhinehart to third, Josh Judy replaced Holt. Judy would uncork a wild pitch, Rhinehart would score and it was 4-0 after three innings. The Suns added four more in the 4th inning off of Judy. Suns Starter Colt Kimball got the win pitching five scoreless innings allowing only four hits. One bright spot, The Captains Dallas Cawiezell pitched a scoreless inning striking out the side.
