LW Mark Derlago scored twice and added an assist while G Michel Robinson made a season-high 44 saves as the Condors defeated visiting Phoenix 4- 2. C Tim Konsorada added his 22nd goal of the year and a pair of assists for Bakersfield, who ran their unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1) with the victory. F Sean Venedam notched his 400th career assist in the game as well. Derlago's goal-scoring streak reached five games with his third consecutive two- goal effort.
Saturday, Jan. 26
Idaho 4 vs. CONDORS 3, SO
The Condors received goals from LW Mark Derlago, F Sean Venedam and RW Chris Di Ubaldo and held a 3-1 lead in the third period Saturday night, but they couldn't hold back the Steelheads. Idaho scored twice on the power play in the final frame and went on to prevail in the shootout, 4-3. The Condors and Steelheads have met three times this season, and Idaho has won each game by just one goal.
The National Conference topped the American Conference, 10-7, in Wednesday's 2008 Chase Chevrolet ECHL All-Star Game in Stockton. Victoria F Ash Goldie led the way for the National Conference, notching an ECHL All-Star Game record six points (3g, 3a) and earning the Most Valuable Player honor. Condors D Kevin Truelson and F Todd Griffith skated for the National Conference squad.
PLAYER AND TEAM NOTES:
F Sean Venedam recorded his 400th professional assist on Friday night.
Four Condors players are currently on a six-game scoring streak: C Tim Konsorada (4g, 4a), F Sean Venedam (1g, 6a), LW Mark Derlago (9g, 2a) and LW Andrew Ianiero (3g, 7a).
Derlago also has a six-game goal-scoring streak, during which he has lit the lamp nine times. His streak is tied for the second-longest in Condors history, matching Steve Dowhy's six-game streak in 1998-99. Paul Rosebush holds the team record with a seven-game goal streak set in 2002-03.
G Michel Robinson has started six consecutive games between the pipes, and stopped 84 of 89 shots faced last weekend (.944 save percentage). Though he has not logged enough minutes to qualify for the league leaders, his save percentage of .924 would rank 8th.
The Condors power play has struck in five of the last six games.
F Eric Sonnenberg was activated from the 3-day IR on Saturday, and returned to action that night for the first time since Jan. 4. He missed eight games, and skated most of the night Saturday on defense.
D Reagan Leslie was placed on the 3-day IR Saturday, and is eligible to return on Jan. 29.
D Scott Balan was placed on the 30-day IR Sunday, and is eligible to return on Feb. 29.
D Jay Langager (7-day) and C Mike Hofstrand (30- day) are both eligible to return, but remain on IR.
