ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, lost their only game of the weekend in Trenton Friday and dropped to second place in the North Division, two points behind the Cincinnati Cyclones.

After taking a 1-0 lead 2:33 into the game, the Jackals surrendered three consecutive power play goals in the final 4:43 of the opening period and never recovered. The Devils added another man-up goal in the second for goals in each of their first four power play chances that spanned an elapsed time of fifty-five seconds. LUKE FULGHUM (13th) and PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT scored for the Jackals, who saw their three-game winning streak end while goaltender DAN LaCOSTA lost for the first time since a 2-6 loss vs. Bakersfield November 11th, snapping his personal six-game winning streak.

The Jackals and Chiefs meet for the fourth and fifth times this year in their nine-game season series. The Chiefs lead the series 4-3 (points). The Wednesday contest kicks off a busy four-game in five-night stretch that wraps up with Superbowl Sunday's visit to Johnstown. Elmira will be looking for its first home win in three tries against Johnstown in the mid-week match while looking for its second straight win in western Pennsylvania (5-2 W 12/31/07).

Elmira visits Sovereign Bank Arena for a second straight Friday night in the seventh contest of the season between the clubs. The Jackals have won five of their first six against the Devils and own a 10-4 edge in standings points. Having knocked off Elmira last Friday, Trenton looks to post a second straight win over the Jackals.

Elmira leads the series 7-3 (points) and has won three of the five meetings. After Saturday, five head-to-head matches remain in the 11-game season series with the next three to come at Sovereign Center. The Jackals posted a 7-3 win in Reading January 2nd in the last game between the clubs.

Jackals Bites: The Jackals are on a three-game home winning streak and have won 10 of their last 12 at First Arena...With an average crowd of 3,606 in 19 openings, the Jackals rank 14th in attendance while playing before 95.3% capacity... The Jackals lost for just the second time in regulation Friday when scoring the first goal of the game (22 games)....Friday's loss at Trenton was the club's first to the Devils this year (5-1-0-0) and Elmira has now dropped their last two overall on enemy ice...Elmira has surrendered two hat tricks this season and both have been to the Devils (Jim Henkel Friday & Trevor Kell 12/15/07) while Ryan Gunderson's four-point game for the Devils was the first such effort against the Jackals this year...The four power play goals allowed to the Devils Friday tied the club record set on 11/11/07 in a 2-6 loss to Bakersfield...Elmira and Augusta share the best third period scoring differential in the league (+19)...CHAZ JOHNSON extended his club record scoring to ten games with an assist Friday in Trenton (10 GP10+5=15)... JOHNSON's goal scoring streak ended at five games in the same contest...MATT GENS tied the club's season-high for shots in a game with 8 (achieved twice previously)...BENOIT DOUCET ran his club record assist streak to five games (0+10=10)...PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT has points in five straight including goals in four of his last five contests and carries a three-game goal scoring streak into this week's action...Elmira's top three scorers (FAUBERT, DOUCET and BRETT PILKINGTON) are all first year skaters in the ECHL with FAUBERT and DOUCET in their rookie campaigns...
