Kelowna Rockets Reassign Lyon Messier

October 12, 2007 - Western Hockey League (WHL) Kelowna Rockets

Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Rockets have announced that 20 year old Lyon Messier has been designated for reassignment.

Messier came to Kelowna at the beginning of the season, part of a trade with the Edmonton Oil Kings. The terms of the trade were conditional on Messier making the Rockets. In this case the Oil Kings will not receive any compensation. In four games this season with the Rockets, Messier was a plus one and had 11 penalty minutes.

Rockets President/General Manager Bruce Hamilton stated "Unfortunately we are only allowed three overage players. At this time I feel Kristofer Westblom, James McEwan and Brady Leavold are important to the success of our team. We hope to find Lyon a place to play in the CHL."
