Sea Dogs rally in extras for second straight win

The Sea Dogs scored three times in the top of the 11th inning to beat the Binghamton Mets in their home opener, 10-7 at NYSEG Stadium. Portland has won two straight games and seven of the last eight in Binghamton dating back to 2006. Zach Borowiak finished 3-for-6 with 3 RBI, executing a perfect squeeze bunt in top of the 11th inning to bring home the go-ahead run. With two outs in the inning, Jeff Corsaletti (4-for-7, 2 RBI) knocked in the final two runs with a single off the first baseman's glove.

Beau Vaughan earned his first Double-A victory, working the final two innings, surrendering one run - a home run to Mike Carp, tying the game at seven in the 10th inning. Carlos Muniz (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing all three runs on three hits and two walks.

Portland took a 5-0 lead in the first inning, sending 10 men to the plate against starter Salvador Aguilar. Jacoby Ellsbury (3-for-6, 3 RS) led off the game with a double and scored on Corsaletti's RBI single. Dusty Brown added an RBI double and Borowiak delivered a two-run single. Binghamton tied the game in the fifth inning on a bases loaded walk by Corey Ragsdale.

Matt Goodson made his first start of the season for Portland, surrendering three runs on two hits in three and 1/3 innings. Chris Smith pitched two scoreless frames for the Sea Dogs and struck out the side in the ninth.

Binghamton took their first lead of the game in the seventh inning on Miguel Negron's RBI single. Ellsbury's speed in the top of the eighth inning helped Portland tie the game at six. Ellsbury scored from second base on a wild pitch and two throwing errors. Jeff Natale gave the visitors a 7-6 advantage in the 10th inning with a sacrifice fly to right field.
