Oklahoma City Takes Over Top Spot in CHL Coaches Poll
November 9, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
The Oklahoma City Blazers are the new top club in the Central Hockey League's weekly Coaches Poll, based on balloting among all 17 CHL Head Coaches. The Blazers move up from second position last week with eight first place votes, five second place votes, a pair of third place votes and a single fourth place votes, upending previous #1 Youngstown. Clubs on the rise this week included the Memphis RiverKings (7th to 2nd), the Colorado Eagles (5th to 3rd), the Amarillo Gorillas (8th to 5th), and the Lubbock Cotton Kings (10th to 7th), while the Corpus Christi Rayz moved into the Top 10 with a #9 ranking.
Each week throughout the season the CHL will release the results of the Coaches Poll. Each first place selection earns 10 points, second place earns 9 points, etc. Coaches cannot vote for their own team, creating a potential perfect score of 160 points should one club receive all 16 possible first place votes.
