Thunder set minor league attendance record

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have become the first team in the history of Minor League Baseball at the Double-A level or below to draw 400,000 fans for twelve consecutive seasons. With today's attendance of 7,698, the total for the 2006 season stands at 406,274 with one game remaining.

"We are fortunate to have the best fans in baseball and be part of this community," said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. "It is a privilege to have the opportunity to entertain so many people here at the stadium."

Last season, the Thunder became the fastest team in the history of Double-A Baseball or below to reach the historic milestone of drawing over 5 million fans. The franchise's attendance now stands at over 5.4 million in 13 seasons. The Thunder's per game attendance average this season is 5,975.

The Thunder have just one game remaining in the 2006 schedule as they host the Reading Phillies tomorrow at 1:35. It is the Great American Thunder Picnic with $1 Hot Dogs and an AIM Toothpaste Fleece Blanket giveaway to the first 1,000 fans. The Thunder will host playoff games at Waterfront Park on Wednesday, September 6 and Thursday, September 7 at 7:05 PM.
