Wranglers defeat Phoenix Roadrunners 4-3

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers defeated the Phoenix Roadrunners 4-3 on Saturday night in front of 7,206 fans at the Orleans Arena. Forward Chris Neiszer picked up a goal and an assist as Las Vegas finished the season 53-13-6 (112 points). Forwards Sean O'Connor and Matt Dzieduszycki each dished out two assists in the victory. Goalie Mike McKenna made 31 saves for his 19th win of the season. The Wranglers 112 points are the third highest total in ECHL history. Las Vegas will host Idaho in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs Tuesday at the Orleans Arena at 7:05 pm.

In the first period, forward Todd Alexander opened the scoring for Las Vegas with his 16th goal of the season at 4:57. Center Chris Neiszner scored at 10:45 of the period, giving the Wranglers a 2-0 lead.

In the second period, Phoenix forward Chase Trull scored for the Roadrunners at 5:29 to cut the Wrangler lead in half at 2-1. Las Vegas defenseman Tyler Sloan scored on the power play at 8:20 of the period, giving the Wranglers a 3-1 lead. Phoenix forward Jake Riddle scored at 13:51 of the period to bring the Roadrunners within one.

In the third period, Riddle scored his second goal of the night for Phoenix, on the power play at 2:11 to tie the game. Steve Crampton picked up his 20th goal of the season at 11:49 for the 4-3 Wranglers win.

The first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs starts at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday night. Las Vegas and Idaho will meet for the second time in three years in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
