Be sure to tune into the sports reports on 710 KIRO AM with Bill Swartz on Thursday and Friday mornings this week. Bill was at practice on Wednesday and interviewed Chris Durand, Aaron Gagnon, Bryan Bridges and Rob Sumner about the season opener in Prince George. He will be playing sound bites from these interviews during his sports reports.
Be sure to listen to KOMO AM 1000 sports reports on Thursday and Friday for head coach Rob Sumner. Rob will be interviewed by KOMO Sports Anchor Matt Pitman on the start of the season and portions of that interview will be played on different sports reports throughout those two days.
The Seattle Thunderbirds open thier season at home on Saturday, October 1st at 7:05pm in KeyArena at Seattle Center. Golf Tournament The 1st Annual T-Birds Golf Classic to benefit the Player Education Fund took place at Willows Run on Monday, September 19 and was a huge success. Twenty-one groups of golfers competed in the best-ball shotgun scramble tournament. Each group had at least one T-Birds player. The winning group was captained by Mike McDonald and featured T-Birds goalie Andrew Pinsent. Even though it was only Andrew's third time golfing, he was able to help his team record a score of 56, 16-under par. The team captained by Will Robbins and featuring T-Birds winger David Linsley came in second while the team captained by Kent Chaplin with T-Bird Aaron Gagnon in the group took third place. The T-Birds would like to thank all those who competed at the tournament and we look forward to seeing you at next year's tournament.
