
Broncos trade Schulz

Swift Current, Sask. -- The Swift Current Broncos have announced the acquisiion of 19-year old forward Ned Lukacevic from the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for veteran blueliner David Schulz.
A native of Winkler, Manitoba, Schulz is entering his fourth full season in the WHL with 185 career games played. A former first round bantam draft pick (17th overall), David was an eighth round selection of the National Hockey League's Vancouver Canucks in 2004.
Lukacevic played in 175 games over three full seasons in Spokane and scored 38 career goals and 84 points. The Port Coquitlam, B.C. product was a fourth round pick of the Los Angeles Kings in the 2004 NHL entry draft.
"We felt a top four defenceman would greatly benefit this year's team," said Chiefs' general manager Tim Speltz. "David is an elite player and a defenceman that can play in all situations."
The 2005-06 WHL season begins this weekend with several games on Friday night including the Regina Pats in Brandon to meet the Wheat Kings. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
