Potomac, VA -- Mario Delgado's three RBI performance, including his eleventh home run of the season helped lift the Frederick Keys (2-2) over the Potomac Nationals, as the Keys evened their second half record with a 6-3 win.

A day after being no-hit through 7.1 innings, the Keys offense struck early as Branden Florence doubled down the left field line to drive in Gera Alvarez. Delgado followed grounding out to first baseman Josh Whitesell, allowing Nick Markakis to cross the plate giving the Keys a 2-0 lead.

Frank Diaz tied the score with a two-run home run to right field off Keys starter Fredy Deza, but the Keys would take a one run advantage in the top of the third inning when Delgado, with the bases loaded, grounded into a fielder's choice, getting Florence thrown out at second base, allowing Alvarez to score from third. Diaz would not let that lead stand long, singling to left field to score Marcos Yepez, tying the score at three runs apiece.

The Keys would take the lead for good in the top of the fifth inning as Delgado hit a solo shot over the right field wall, off Michael O'Connor. Later in the fifth Bryan Bass lined a double to left field driving in Jeff Fiorentino, putting the Keys ahead 5-3.

In the eighth inning Jarod Rine tripled to right field, before Nate Spears sacrifice fly drove him across the plate adding insurance, as the Keys took a 6-3 lead.

Kory Casto doubled to score Frank Diaz in the bottom of the eighth inning, but that was the last of the offense the Nationals could manage, as the Keys won 6-4.

Fredy Deza earned the victory, in place of recently promoted scheduled starter James Johnson. Deza tossed 5.2 innings allowing three runs on six hits. Carlos Jan continued his impressive Carolina League performance, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings striking out 2. Jan has yet to allow a run in Carolina League action, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings since his promotion from Delmarva. David Haehnel allowed a run on two hits in the eighth inning, before Marino Salas pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn his seventh save of the season.

Michael O'Connor (3-8) took the loss allowing five runs on eight hits over 5.0 innings, striking out eight. Danny Kolb allowed the Keys' final run.
