ABOUT LAST NIGHT: Noah Hall's two-out RBI single in the ninth inning drove in the winning run as the Warthogs defeated the Blue Rocks, 8-7. Hall went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for the Warthogs, who have won seven of the 10 meetings with the Blue Rocks. David Puhucki (2-1) allowed two unearned runs in the ninth and suffered the loss. Ehren Wasserman worked an inning and a third and notched the win. Jeff Ontiveros and Iggy Suarez each collected two hits for the Blue Rocks, who have lost six of their last nine.

THAT'S AFIRST: Last night's loss was the first of the season for the Blue Rocks when going to the ninth inning with a lead. The Rocks are 23-1 when leading after eight innings and 0-32 when trailing after eight innings.

WALKING OFF WITH A WIN: The walk-off win last night for the Warthogs was the seventh of the season against the Blue Rocks and the second for Winston-Salem. After last night's loss, the Rocks have lost three in a row on the road for the fifth time this season.

THE HITS KEEP ON COMING: Two Blue Rocks are riding season-long hitting streaks coming into tonight's game. Bryan Pritz has hit safely in 10 consecutive games and Scott Youngbauer has at least one base hit in all nine of his games in a Blue Rocks uniform.

STRUGGLING AT THE PLATE: Scott White went 0-for-3 with a walk and runs scored last night and has just five hits in his last 43 at-bats. After an eightgame hitting streak, Zach Borowiak is 0-for-14 in his last three games and has only two hits in his last 21 at-bats. Clint Chauncey has three hits in his last 25 atbats.

OPPONENTS GOING YARD: The Blue Rocks pitching staff has allowed 25 home runs over the last 14 games. The opposition has scored four or more runs against Wilmington in 15 games during the month of June.

CLOSE AFFAIRS: The Blue Rocks have had 51 of their 74 games decided by three runs or less this season. The Rocks are 8-17 in one-run games after last night's loss.

TO ERR IS HUMAN: The Blue Rocks committed three more errors last night and have committed a league-high 97 errors over their first 74 games of the season. The Blue Rocks committed a franchise record 212 errors in 1997.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN (BUT NOT FOR LONG): After three games in Winston-Salem, the Blue Rocks return home and begin the three-day all-star break on Monday. After the break, Wilmington will play six in a row at home, with three games each against the Lynchburg Hillcats and Salem Avalanche.

FUTURE STAR: Anibal Sanchez was selected to the 2005 Futures Team and will be a part of the World Team. The 2005 Futures Game will take place on Sunday, July 10 at Comerica Park in Detroit. Sanchez joins former Blue Rocks hurler Zack Greinke as the only two Blue Rocks to play in the Futures Game. WHAT'S ON TAP?: The Blue Rocks continue their three-game series tonight at Winston-Salem. Tommy Hottovy goes to the hill tonight for his 13th start (15th appear.) of the season. Hottovy is 0-2 with a 7.45 ERA in two games (one start) against Winston-Salem. The Warthogs hand the ball to Ryan Rodriguez tonight for his 15th start of the season and his third straight against the Blue Rocks. Rodriguez has won three straight starts, including two against Wilmington. The 20-year-old was selected in the fourth round of the 2002 June Free Agent Draft by the Chicago White Sox.

WE'RE BAA-AACK: The Blue Rocks and Warthogs are in the midst of playing each other for the third consecutive weekend, marking a stretch of nine games between the two teams in a stretch of 16 days. The Warthogs have won three in a row and seven of the 10 meetings of the season with Wilmington.

GOING YARD: The Warthogs have hit 19 home runs in 10 games against the Blue Rocks, including 12 in four games at Ernie Shore Field. Travis Hinton hit his fourth home run of the season against Wilmington last night.

JUST CALLIT THE DAIGLE AWARD: Warthogs' first baseman Leo Daigle was honored as the Carolina League Hitter of the Week for the third consecutive week for the week ending June 19. During the past week, he hit for the cycle, batted .556, and knocked in 16 runs. He has won the award four times this season.

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Wilmington Blue Rocks have compiled a 128-121 record against the Winston-Salem franchise since 1993. At Frawley Stadium, the Rocks have a 71-55 record, while they are 57-64 at Ernie Shore Field.

THIS DATE IN BLUE ROCKS HISTORY June 25, 1994: The Keys got 12 hits off Rocks starter Jim Pittsley as the Keys scored an 8-4 win at Wilmington. Andy Stewart had a 3-for-5 night for the Rocks, which included a homerun. Relief pitcher John Dempsey, who came to the Rocks as a transformed catcher, allowed one hit in two innings of work.

June 25, 1996: The Warthogs blanked the Blue Rocks, 9-0, as Dee Jenkins had three RBI for the Hogs. In front of the fireworks crowd of 6,370 at Frawley, Sean McNally and Michael Evans each had two hits for the Rocks.

June 25, 2001--- The Blue Rocks four-game losing streak to start the second half comes to an end with a 5-2 road victory at Salem. The Blue Rocks break a 2-2 tie in the ninth inning with three runs. Scott Walter drives in the go-ahead run and Byron Gettis follows with a two-run homer off losing pitcher Enemencio Pacheco. Jason Gilfillan earns the win for the Blue Rocks, improving his record to 4-1 on the year. Gilfillan works 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing one hit, two walks, and a hit batter.

ON THE FARM WITH THE BOSTON RED SOX FRIDAY'S RESULTS Pawtucket (IL): Alejandro Machado went 3-for-4 with a run scored and Pawtucket opened up a series in Richmond with a 5-1 victory over the Braves on Friday night. Lenny Dinardo earned the win for the Paw Sox, who have won three in a row. Former Blue Rocks hurler Ken Ray suffered the loss. (Record: 38-36)

Portland (EL): The Norwich Navigators scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning and defeated the Portland Sea Dogs, 3-2, at Dodd Stadium in Norwich. Anthony Labarbera's home run in the ninth provided the Navigators with the dramatic walk-off win. Marc Deschenes (3-2) blew a save opportunity and suffered the loss. John Lester struck out 10 over seven innings and took a no-decision. (Record: 38-32)

Greenville (SAL): Savannah picked up a road win by defeating the Greenville Bombers, 8-2, in Greenville. Ryan Zimmerman made his professional debut in the Washington Nationals farm system and went 3-for-5 with a double, home run, and four RBI. Jarrett Gardner allowed four earned runs over eight innings and suffered the loss. (Record: 37-35)

Lowell (NYP): The Spinners improved to 4-0 on the season with a 6-3 win on the road against the Oneonta Tigers. (Record: 4-0)

The six clubs currently playing in the Red Sox minor league system have combined for a 152-144 record (.514) in 2005.
