(PHILADELPHIA)---Second period goals by Joey Hope and Dennis Seidenberg led the Phantoms to a 4-1 victory as the team extended their consecutive win streak over the Bears to fourteen games dating back to last season.

Tonight’s win was also the team’s sixth consecutive after opening the season with back-to-back losses.

Antero Niittymaki stopped 23 shots including an Eric Perrin breakaway with just over four minutes to go in the contest in earning his fifth win of the season.

Hershey jumped out to a 1-0 lead just twenty-five seconds into the game when Marek Svatos chipped in a Brett Clark rebound off of the stick of Philadelphia goaltender Antero Niittymaki.

Svatos’ marker was only the second first period goal of the season for the Bears, notoriously slow starters this season.

Philadelphia answered with two tallies in the first five minutes of the second period to grab the 2-1 lead.

Finishing a four-on-two break, Hope found the puck sitting on the doorstep for the easy goal.

“It’s been a fantastic week for me with the birth of my son and getting my first goal” said Hope.

The converted defenseman Joey Hope has been a big help to a Phantoms team minus forwards Boyd Kane and Eric Meloche due to injury.

“To get thrown in a different position and be able to go out and make a difference and score a goal has been a blessing.”

Phantoms’ coach John Stevens has been pleased as well with the results.

(Joey) went through a long stretch where he didn’t play and he came to the rink every day with a great attitude.

“We needed a guy up front and he’s filled in admirably for us” said Stevens.

Dennis Seidenberg goal on the power play proved to be the game-winner, beating Lawson low to the glove side on a blast from the right point.

Seidenberg’s goal marked the seventh time a Philadelphia blue liner has scored this season and their twelfth with the man advantage.

The Phantoms added two goals in the final six minutes of the third period including an empty-netter by Ben Eager at 19:08.

As for the streak, Stevens added, “it’s probably more of a number to (Hershey) than it is to us.”

“We still view it as a big game in our Division and we have to come ready to play.”
