New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

Game Keys - The Zephyrs three game winning streak ran into an Express train on Friday night. Round Rock scored six runs on seven hits in the first inning and defeated the Z's 7-4 at the Dell Diamond. Zephyr starter Mike Wood retired one hitter and was tagged with six runs on seven hits and suffered the loss. The Z's bullpen did an admirable job not allowing another Round Rock run until the bottom of the eighth. New Orleans scored a pair of runs in the third on a 2 run double by Chris Coghlin. Gaby Sanchez smoked a two run home run in fifth and the Z's trailed 6-4. Express reliever Yorman Bazardo pitched four innings allowing two runs and earned the win. Houston Astros righthander Brian Moehler pitched four innings in a rehab start and allowed 2 runs.

Game Notes: Catcher Brett Hayes six game hit streak was snapped. The Z's bullpen worked 7.2 innings allowing just one run. The Marlins have claimed reliever Dave Davidson from the Pittsburgh Pirates, he will join the Zephyrs next week. Davidson, a left-hander who turns 25 this week, was designated for assignment last week to create space on the 40-man roster for outfielder Delwyn Young. He had a 4.15 ERA in three appearances with Class AAA Indianapolis this season.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs return home to host the Albuquerque Isotopes at Zephyr Field. The Isotopes are the new Triple A Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Z's will start RH Brett Sinkbeil (1-2) against RH Jeff Weaver (1-0). Weaver. Weaver has a career record of 93-114 in parts of ten seasons with six major league teams. He was the winning pitcher in Game 5 of the 2006 World Series that clinched the championship for St. Louis. Promotion: Fireworks, Radio: WIST 690 AM
