New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release


Alejandro De Aza drilled a pinch hit double in the seventh inning to drive home two runs as the visiting Zephyrs rallied to defeat the Express 7-3 at the Dell Diamond. The win is the Z's third consecutive over Round Rock. New Orleans trailed 2-1 for the majority of the game as both starting pitchers were delivering quality starts. Z's starter Daniel Barone allowed two runs in six innings of work to pick up the win. The Z's added to their lead in the eighth after a hit and a pair of walks Jai Miller cleared the bases with a 3 RBI triple off of reliever Sammy Gervacio. Express starter Bud Norris suffered the loss pitching seven innings and allowed two earned runs. Mark Saccomanno hammered a solo home run in the ninth inning for the Express. The Z's will attempt for its first sweep of the season on Friday in the series finale.

Game Notes: The Z's are now 3-0 in the grey uniforms. Gaby Sanchez made his first start of the season at third base for the Zephyrs .... The Z's bullpen has allowed just ten earned runs in 49.2 innings on the road this season. ... Brian Sanches returned to the team on Thursday after a two day vacation, the reliever returned to his home to greet his wife and their newborn baby. Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Express wrap up the series Friday night at the Dell Diamond at 7PM.
