New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release

A sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning would be all the run support the New Orleans Zephyrs would need in a gem by starter Rick VandenHurk on Sunday.

VandenHurk improved to 3-2 on the year, allowing just two hits and two walks in seven innings while striking out seven. VandenHurk struck out four in a row at one point, including all three batters in the second inning.

In the bottom of the sixth, Ryan Klosterman led off with a walk and advanced to second on a Lorenzo Scott single. Klosterman would then steal third and score on a sacrifice fly by John Raynor for the game's lone run.

Scott contributed to some excitement in the bottom of the eighth, ripping a two-out double into the left-center field gap for his second hit of the afternoon.

Raynor then bounced an infield single that went off the pitcher Brad Kilby and deflected to the second baseman. Scott rounded third, but was caught in a run down.

Sacramento catcher Anthony Recker was met at the plate with authority as Scott lowered his shoulder at home but was tagged out after a collision. Both benches cleared as Recker and Scott exchanged words.

Nursing a 1-0 lead, Kasey Olenberger pitched around aleadoff walk, picking up his sixth save of the season while striking out the final two batters.

The four-game tilt continues from Zephyr Field Monday night as righty Ryan Tucker (0-4, 5.28) matches up with lefty Lenny DiNardo (1-5, 3.89). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
