COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Round Rock sent 10 batters to the plate in the top of the ninth and six scored, but a 10-run deficit was too much to overcome as the Express dropped a 12-8 decision at Colorado Springs in Sunday's Pacific Coast League action at Security Services Field. The Express (16-21) fell to 3-7 all-time against the Sky Sox (19-17) at Colorado Springs.
Sky Sox starter Alan Johnson's two-run single keyed a five-run second as Colorado snapped a scoreless tie and led the rest of the way. Johnson's single was one of three hits in the inning and the only one to plate multiple runs. Round Rock starter Roy Corcoran issued three walks in the inning and two of them scored.
The Express got on the board in the in the third with two runs on two hits. Corcoran returned the favor, opening the frame with a single. After Jason Bourgeois was hit by a pitch, Oswaldo Navarro delivered an RBI double. Chris Johnson followed with an RBI groundout.
However, Colorado Springs pulled away with two runs in the fourth, three in the sixth, one in the seventh and another in the eighth. The 12 runs scored by the Sky Sox matched the most runs allowed in a game this season by the Express pitching staff.
Johnson (4-0) picked up the win for Colorado Springs; he allowed two runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts over 6.0 innings. Corcoran (1-6) surrendered seven runs on five hits and five walks with three strikeouts over 4.0 innings and was saddled with the loss in his sixth career start.

Round Rock and Colorado Springs continue their four-game series Monday with a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch. It will be dueling southpaws as Andy Van Hekken (2-2, 3.69) takes the mound for the Express opposite Josh Muecke (0-2, 8.53 ERA) for the Sky Sox.
