New Orleans Baby Cakes News Release
New Orleans turned Zephyr Field into a launching pad Friday night as they pounded four home runs en route to a 6-2 victory over the Omaha Royals.
The Zephyrs touched up Omaha starter Kyle Davies, who was previously unbeaten in three starts for the Royals, for four runs in five innings of work.
Jai Miller was 3-for-4 with two solo bombs, and Cameron Maybin and John Lindsey each added home runs for the Z's, who took their third straight from the Royals. As a team, the Zephyrs only stranded six runners on base, and went 2-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
Maybin's first inning homer gave the Zephyrs a 2-1 lead, and they would not look back. They added one more run in the first on an Alejandro De Aza RBI single, then got another in the fourth on Miller's first home run of the night.
They capped their scoring in the sixth inning of a pair of solo home runs by Lindsey and Miller to go up 6-1.
Clay Hensley (5-2) got the win by giving up two runs on four hits in seven innings. After working out of a jam in the first inning, he was able to cruise the rest of the way, allowing only a solo home run to J.R. House in the seventh.
The Z's will go for their fifth straight win Saturday night at 6 pm with John Koronka (LHP) facing off against Sidney Ponson (RHP).
