Game Keys - The Zephyrs and Omaha Royals split a pair of lopsided games on Saturday night as the teams played a doubleheader in front of 8,068 fans at Rosenblatt Stadium. Omaha won the first game 14-2, scoring nine runs in the fifth inning. Omaha starter Bryan Bullington went the distance in the win. The Zephyrs scored five runs in the fifth inning in the second game enroot to a 8-1 win. Adalberto Mendez pitched five solid innings allowing one unearned run on three hits in the win. The Z's have won two of three in Omaha and are are 3-4 on the roadtrip.
Game Notes- The Zephyrs have split two doubleheaders this season, swept one and been swept in another. The Z's and Royals will play two games again on Sunday afternoon. The Z's will make a roster move on Sunday adding lefty James Houser from Jacksonville. Pitcher Chris Volstad has been selected by the Marlins and will start their game vs. Atlanta. Z's infielder Brian Barden six game hit streak was snapped. The Zephyrs have made a few changes to the schedule in the upcoming homestand. The game on Sunday, August 1st will be a doubleheader starting at 5 PM . The game on Tuesday, August 3rd has been changed to a 11:30 start.
Coming Up: The Zephyrs continue the trip in Omaha on Sunday with another doubleheader starting at 12:05. New Orleans will start LH Wes Whisler (1-2, 3.96) and LH James Houser (0-0, 3.26). The Z's conclude the trip on Monday and return home on Tuesday night. Radio: WMTI 106.1 FM
