Game Keys: A difficult travel day for the New Orleans Zephyrs as the team fell to Tacoma 15-9 on Monday. The ballclub traveled 2,600 miles from New Orleans to Tacoma, Washington endured a few flight delays, cold temperatures and steady rain and a rough outing from the pitching staff. Zephyr starter Jose Diaz had his shortest stint of the season working two innings and allowed 6 walks, and 6 runs. The Tacoma offense scored 15 runs off of 19 hits, both season highs. Wladimir Balentine smacked a trio of home runs for Tacoma including an inside the park home run in the eighth inning. The Rainiers jumped out to a 11-2 lead but the Zephyrs fought back in the game cutting the lead to 11-9 in the eighth inning. Z's outfielder Chris Agulia homered twice and drove in 5 runs. Tacoma added four runs in the bottom of the 8th to finish off the Zephyrs. The Zephyrs walked a season high ten batters. Tacoma leads the series 1-0.

Game Notes: The Z's opened a eight-game road trip through the Pacific Northwest Monday with the opener of a four-game set in Tacoma. The Z's have never dropped a series in Tacoma, posting a 21-7 record all-time at Cheney Stadium in a series dating back to 1998. New Orleans won all four games played between the teams last season, sweeping four straight at Zephyr Field July 24-27... With Sunday's rain-shortened win and the rainout on Saturday, the Z's earned their first-ever sweep of Round Rock ... The Zephyrs are 14-9 in second place in the PCL South ... The Z's are a season-best five games above .500.

Coming Up: Zephyrs RH Brian Stokes (2-2) will pitch against Tacoma Rainiers RH Sean White (1-0) at 9:05 PM today in the second game of the four game series at Cheney Stadium. Radio: AM 690 WIST.
