Portland Beavers News Release

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers today announced that infielder Oscar Robles has been claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies and right-handed pitcher Mike Adams has been reinstated from the disabled list. Additionally, the San Diego Padres today outrighted right-handed pitcher Mauro Zarate to Portland.

Robles, 32, batted .208 (11-for-53) with three doubles, one home run and 10 RBIs in 14 games with the Beavers this season. In parts of two seasons with Portland (2007-08), Robles batted .258 (40-for-155) with eight doubles, three triples, one home run and 21 RBIs in 42 games. The Phillies assigned Robles to Triple-A Lehigh Valley after acquiring him.

Adams, 29, was placed on the disabled on April 15 (retroactive to April 13) with a right shoulder strain after making four relief appearances with the Beavers to start the campaign. The right-hander is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA (3er, 6.0ip) and six strikeouts this year.

Zarate, 25, is 0-0 with a 9.82 ERA (8er, 7.1ip) in six relief appearances with Portland this season. Today's move removes him from the Padres 40-man roster.

The Beavers active roster remains at its 24-man limit.
